Service Experts of Raleigh Helps Man Go Above and Beyond for His Neighbor

June 29, 2016

This past May, Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning of Raleigh got a call from a gentleman named Jimmy from the Raleigh community who told us about a special project he was working on for his neighbor Kyla.

Kyla Tracy is a sweet nine year-old girl who was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, commonly known as brittle bone disease. She is dependent on a wheelchair to get from one point to another and her residence was not wheelchair compatible, due in large part to the size of the wheelchair. When Jimmy realized the problem, he thought about remodeling the Tracy family’s house to make it fully wheel-chair friendly. However, due to the age of the home, it was going to be a bigger job than he initially planned. Looking for another way, Jimmy chose to try converting the Tracy family’s carport into a wheelchair compatible apartment, which would come complete with Kyla’s own bedroom, bathroom, playroom, and kitchen area.

Excited, Jimmy began contacting local contractors, including electricians, building supply companies, and plumbers and all of them said they would be thrilled to help and donate services and supplies. He asked Service Experts of Raleigh for the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) part of Kyla’s new apartment. Our Service Experts team members went to Kyla’s home to learn more about the remodel and were amazed by how bright and kind Kyla was and they knew they had to help.

Kyla’s father, Jared Tracy, said he expected to pay for the $12,000 heating and AC equipment for his daughter’s new living area, but with the assistance of Lennox and RE Michel, the team at Service Experts was able to hand the Tracy family a bill that said:

“We are more than honored to present you with a complete heating and cooling system free of charge as long as we can all have a hug.”

The staff at Service Experts of Raleigh were humbled to help provide such an extraordinary girl with a much-deserved place to live and get around in her wheelchair efficiently and safely. The work isn’t done yet, though. Kyla’s family is trying to purchase a wheel-chair accessible van to better transport Kyla and her wheelchair.
