What Are Common Air Conditioning Problems?

Fras-Air/General Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here with a few of the most usual A/C problems in Hillsborough.

  • No Cool Air

If you can hear your air conditioning system working but there isn’t cool air coming out, you may need to have your refrigerant levels evaluated. Refrigerant is what helps make sure the air coming out of your air conditioning system is actually cool. Call Fras-Air/General Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning and we’ll come out and check your refrigerant levels and look into why your AC system is not giving off cool air.

  • Fan Won’t Rotate

One reason your condenser fan isn’t rotating could be that it merely burned out and you have to replace it. Humidity can cause more condensation so a second problem to watch for is that the water is not draining correctly or that the drain is obstructed. If you can verify these issues, you may be able to pinpoint the issue; if not, give Fras-Air/General Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning a call and we can investigate what has stopped your condenser fan from rotating and review your options to get your system up and running again.

  • Not Cooling Properly

First, try decreasing the temperature on your thermostat. It seems simple but sometimes we neglect the obvious. If that doesn’t get your system cooling, check the air filter. If the air filter is blocked, it could cause huge cooling issues. Another problem that could cause your ineffective cooling is that your AC equipment is not sized properly, and unfortunately this is a common issue when homes are constructed. Fras-Air/General Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning will come out and conduct an analysis to determine if the size of your system is causing your issues.

  • System is Short Cycling

If your system is short cycling, or turning on or off continuously, it could mean one of several things. One is that your condenser or evaporator is dirty and needs cleaning. Once the unit is cleaned and all clogs removed, you may be good to go. Remember that humidity also plays a role so if your home cools to the correct temperature, but then the humidity causes your home to warm up again, it could result in on-again, off-again air conditioning because the system is having to work harder to keep your home cool.
