When you want heating, cooling or plumbing services from Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing, you will pay for the trip charge and a diagnostic fee individually. A number of companies you’ve called in the past most likely combined the trip charge and diagnostic fee, but we think we can offer you greater value by separating the two.
A trip charge covers the cost for a qualified plumber or HVAC technician to visit your home. Sometimes called a service call fee, this payment is the initial rate for delivering our technicians, equipment and expertise to your front door. If you want to eliminate trip charges in the future, you can consider signing up for one of our membership plans.
The diagnostic fee covers the services required to determine the root of a problem. For plumbing, this can be comprised of scoping. For HVAC repairs, it may involve inspecting the inside of your system. If you prefer to use Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing for any repairs, the diagnostic fee would be rolled into the repair costs. However, you’re charged for the diagnostic services alone if you choose not to.
In most cases, a trip fee includes sending the plumber or HVAC technician to your home, while the diagnostic fee addresses all the work concerned with evaluating the problem and figuring out a plan for repairs. If you’re paying for repairs, you shouldn’t notice the diagnostic fee since it will be included with the cost of the repairs.
Many plumbers and HVAC companies will charge a single fee for both the trip and the diagnostics. Rather than charging you for two services at once, we prefer two distinct fees. This helps us to price our services in the fairest achievable manner.
