We are trudging through the last few weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during frigid nights. Not much is worse than going to bed at night and realizing your furnace won’t turn on. If this happens to you, here are a couple things you can check yourself before calling Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing.
Check Air Filters
You should swap out standard air filters monthly. If you fail to do so, they can get clogged, restricting air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem silly, but make sure the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently moved to the “Off” position.
If you inspect all these things and your heating system will still not kick on, give Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing a call at 866-397-3787 and we’ll come out and take care of you as soon as possible.
