Should you replace your boiler? Fras-Air/General Service Experts is here with a few signs to look for when deciding whether it’s time to invest in a new boiler.
Age
If your condensing boiler receives standard maintenance, you can expect it to last about 15 years or longer. Cast iron boilers can last a lot longer, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is coming up on 15 years or your cast iron boiler is coming up on 50 years, it may be time to consider an upgrade.
Bills
If your energy bills are increasing or you’re having to service your boiler more repeatedly, it could be because it’s time to invest in a new, more efficient boiler.
Discoloration
If you notice yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be a sign that the fuel is not burning properly and could be generating carbon monoxide. If you notice these issues or have any concerns regarding carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Fras-Air/General Service Experts or your gas company immediately.
Comfort
If some of the rooms in your home are too cool or too warm and you can’t seem to control them appropriately or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is not effective anymore and you may need to look into upgrade options.
